While I will always stay on the hunt for new, inspiring beauty products, I feel such a relief to have found Beautycounter. I know that I’ve found a brand whom I can trust to deliver some of the safest products available to me and my family. In case you aren’t familiar with Beautycounter, their mission is…
Having long hair in Texas summer heat is both a blessing and a curse. I’m always looking for new styles to try and ways to get my hair pulled off of my face. Here are some of my favorites looks for this summer. Read More…
Instagram is hands down my favorite form of social media. I am constantly inspired by the images I find. So, why not share some of my favorites each week with all of you? Here they are from this past week:

I love to shop – online, in store, anyway I can. But there is nothing like looking at wonderful product in a beautiful, inspiring setting. Enter Livly Stockholm on Reade Street in Tribeca, my new favorite children’s store.
Straight out of Sweden, this brand offers the cutest designs for baby, girl, and boy, in sweet prints and the softest fabrics.
The majority of the baby line is made out of supremely soft pima cotton, so you know that baby will be super comfy and cozy – as all baby clothes should.
These precious little pieces have become my new go-to for baby gifts. They are such lovely little presents and so practical.
Elle Decor recently did a feature on Martin von Haselberg’s Millbrook, New York pool house. At first glance, it appeared to be a beautiful bucolic scene, with the sweet white chapel next to a serene pool and expansive green lawn. But looking through the rest of the images, I was blown away by what was actually on the inside. Read More…
There is nothing like keeping fresh floral arrangements in the house to add color, dimension, and help bring a little of the outdoors inside. But given the chance, I’d forsake all the fresh flowers to add one of Vladmir Kanevsky’s handmade porcelain floral sculptures to my home. Read More…
Last weekend, fashion darling Giovanna Battaglia wed Swedish property developer Oscar Engelbert in what was probably the biggest wedding extravaganza the island of Capri has ever seen. I couldn’t help but follow the three day event on Instagram and imagine what it must have been like to be witness the theatrics of the weekend in such a magical setting. Here are some of the highlights…

I have been on the hunt for new breakfast and snack ideas and finally struck gold with this one, which I tried yesterday. It is a similar version to the one Juice Society, one of the best juice spots in Austin, serves. What I love most about cashew cream is the consistency; It has an amazing whipped, creamy texture that is so filling and absolutely delicious. Layered with fruit, it is breakfast perfection. So, I set out to recreate it.
Feel free to play around with the milk measurement – just slowly add, as I like my cashew cream thicker than a yogurt consistency.
Lemon Vanilla Cashew Cream
- 3 cups soaked cashews (2 hours)
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup cargageenan-free almond milk
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large dates (add more for additional sweetness)
- a pinch of himalayan sea salt
*Combine all ingredients in a high-powered blender (like Vitamix). Add milk slowly until you get the proper consistency. Layer cashew cream with fruit of your choice. I love it with bananas, blueberries, coconut chips, and strawberries. Enjoy!
Here is a look inside famed couturier Hubert De Givenchy’s beautiful country estate, Le Jonchet Manor. This stunning 17th century Renaissance castle in the Touraine boasts exquisite parterres, a moat, and of course, as much interior style as Monsieur Givenchy brought to his renowned la Maison Givenchy.

Recently, through Instagram, I discovered Gemma + Filo, a line of beyond precious accessories for little girls. This local Austin gem makes all of their accessories by hand using both vintage as well as new elements. Their necklaces and bags are stylish, yet also have the playfulness and whimsical touches guaranteed to make any little girl swoon. I can’t wait to start giving these little treasures as gifts!

Aquazzura’s summer shoe collection makes up the majority of the sandals on my summer favorites list. Each style has personality for days and the bright colors bring so much energy to every outfit. And, as a gift to all of our feet, their 2″ heels are just as cool as those 4″. What’s better than a great looking shoe that feels good too? Read More…
Mansur Gavriel’s Fall 16 presentation was beyond gorgeous. Of course the accessory “it-brand” knocked it out of the park with their new bag silhouettes and shoes, but what really won me over were the colors used throughout the staging of the presentation.
Against a base of bright white and camel, yellow mimosa bouquets, red, orange, and blush pink poppies, clementines, green bananas, and lemons created the most beautiful palette together. Somehow, the Mansur Gavriel brightly colored suede and patent accessories only seemed to pop more intensely off of these “background” colors.
Although this was an autumn/winter presentation, it is like the most inspiring spring palette I’ve seen. It’s like a big breath of fresh air. And, as a yellow convert, I will, no doubt, be on the lookout for mimosas next time I am at the flower market.

Bridal week is inherently gorgeous, but the Spring/Summer 17 presentation by Marchesa takes the cake for the season. Inspired by an enchanted garden, the designers used a mix of 3-D flowers, flowing lace, ethereal tulle, romantic cuts, and styled each look with gorgeous, dramatic jewels. The results were nothing short of bridal perfection. And, infusing the blush color in the scheme was lovely.
If I could do it again…

I love what the “new” chokers did for Raf Simon’s last collection for Dior. They added an immediate coolness to the looks and an accessibility of sorts to the luxury collection. And, it seems, just about everyone else has also picked up on this trend.

Here are some of my favorite versions of chokers, all by Fallon. They range from simple leather string ties to rhinestone decorated versions, and even incorporate the handkerchief trend. Honestly, even a homemade, wide piece of fabric wrapped around the neck looks perfectly chic. Do try this one at home.

My love affair with stripes continues with the new collaborative launch of Solid & Striped X Poppy Delevingne. Every style in the collection has a timeless cut (with the slightest bit of sex appeal) and is in a perfect palette of navy, cream, and petal pink. I’m especially loving the one pieces in the line and this gingham style will be making an appearance in my daughter’s swim class very soon.
Coachella is here, which means lots of flower crowns and crop tops will be dancing across your Instagram accounts this weekend. Thankfully, Pernille Teisbaek has upped the festival fashion ante. Read More…
Stripes. Everyone loves a good stripe. After years in the industry, I know that designing stripes isn’t hard, but designing great ones is. Thankfully, two ex-Vogue editors, Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster, and former Rag & Bone alumna, Molly Howard, had the brilliant idea to make stripes the focus of their new business with the launch of La Ligne. If I had to choose one shoe to buy this spring, it would have to be a Brothers Vellies sandal. This line is amazing from start to finish.
Created by Aurora James and launched in 2013, after being inspired by her travels throughout Africa, the brand is all about using sustainable materials, as well as creating jobs for the women who make the shoes in Africa. Each and every style also happens to be completely gorgeous, yet with an undeniable ease. The Spring 16 line uses hand-carved beads from Kenya and leathers from Ethiopia. I can’t get enough of all of the fur and texture. I want to slip my toes in each and every pair.
Big earrings have always been my “thing”, so I couldn’t be more excited that statement earrings are trending for spring and summer. When I came across Les Bonbons by Rebecca de Ravenel, it was love at first sight. There are literally a million different ways to wear them: causal with cropped jeans, a white tee shirt, fun sandals, hair pulled back, with a long, airy island dress, or dressed up for a black tie occasion. Multiply these looks by the stunning color option available and you won’t need another earring option for the next six months.
Here, I’ve paired Les Bonbons with pieces from my other fashion crush, Johanna Ortis’s, Spring/Summer 16 collection. Ortiz’s signature ruffles and off-the shoulder styles paired with Les Bonbons? It’s a match made in heaven.
I’m swooning over this gorgeous Palm Beach villa from Veranda Magazine. Blue and white is one of my favorite interior color combinations. The way it is used here feels so fresh, yet still offers tons of interest through print and pattern and dimension with the various shades of blue. The pops of lime green and leaf green are the perfect accents to complete the color scheme, especially for the balmy Florida climate. Read More…
In the last post, I focused on the more casual aspects of uniform dressing. Here are some additional looks to add to your arsenal. These will diversify your options and the end-uses for each outfit, as well as amp up the style quotient.
Sometimes, the addition of a blazer and a heel are all you need for a little fashion boost or to simply take you from day to night. Don’t forget that you may need to update your denim silhouettes. The fit is all about looser, cropped styles. Mom jeans!
After turning 30, getting married, getting pregnant, and becoming a mom, a big challenge for me has been figuring out what I am going to wear – or not wear. It may sound silly or trite, but having worked in the apparel industry for over ten years and being confident in every outfit I wore, I suddenly felt like most of my closet no longer represented who I was. It was a bit of an identity crisis. Who was I? I needed a fashion rebirth.
While I am a carbivore, my daughter is a total carnivore. Luckily, there are some meals that we can agree upon.
My goal is always to get T to eat what we are eating. I’d rather make one great meal than two time-pressed dinners. And I love recipes that make multiple meals, are easy to portion and are portable. These meatballs fit all of those prerequisites. Read More…
Chanel never disappoints and the Spring 16 Haute Couture show was no exception. The creativity and precision in execution, on every level, was extraordinary.
The transformation of the Grand Palais into an eco-garden set was incredible and a beautiful backdrop for the show. While there was a wide range of designs presented, the last 15 looks were the showstoppers; the dress embellishment and capes were absolutely dreamy. And fanny packs with your gowns? How practical!
The makeup and hair perfectly completed it all. I loved the double line eyeliner and “croissant” hair twist. It made the looks glamorous, classic, yet unexpected all at once. One can dream, right?
If you happen to have a weakness for shoes, as I do, you will love this other retail disruptor, M.Gemi. This genius startup shoe brand churns out new designs of on-trend, beautifully-crafted, handmade, Italian shoes weekly. WEEKLY!!! These shoes are easy to mistake for your favorite luxury brands – they are that perfect. In fact, The Brezza style was the shoe of the summer/fall season and sold out for weeks.
Just like Everlane, they sell only through their website, so prices are significantly less than their designer competition. What this really means is that you get to buy more shoes.
Here are some of my loves. And these colors!!

Before I had my daughter, I spent 10 years in apparel merchandising. And it’s true: even a little retail gets into your blood. I still love staying up-to-date on what is happening in the retail world and seeing how it is moving forward and evolving. Or, not… While the big brands continue to do business as usual, there are a handful of new, small, innovative brands making some noise in the business. One of my favorites is Everlane. It provides direct to consumer product online, cutting out middlemen and a lot of store overhead. In return, you, the consumer, don’t necessarily get cheaper product, but product that is well-designed, made from better materials and made in quality factories. You are getting MORE for your money.
Everlane isn’t new, but they just launched their Mini-Collection, which should have moms everywhere excited. Now, you and your little one can both wear cool clothes without the sequins and tulle and terrible graphics that so many child brands have, sadly, turned to. There are great basics to refresh your wardrobe, all in modern silhouettes. It makes dressing uncomplicated.
Here are some of my favorites Everlane items for mom:

After the holidays, it’s a given that everyone in the world will be implementing their “get-in-shape-now” plans and adding lengthy lines to gym treadmills across the country. If you happen to be joining the masses, I’ll let you in on a little secret to help ensure your success: buy yourself some cute workout clothes. This simple piece of advice is honestly the best motivation to jumpstart your health routine. If you are excited about new, cool clothes, you will WANT to put them on and then once they are on, it only makes sense to work out. Unless you are a mom, and then you just always wear spandex.
Fitness clothes have never looked better. In fact, it is the most innovative category in apparel right now; new designs, fabrication, and wearable technology are propelling it forward. There are tons of new, labels to try, but even the classic brands have upped their game, offering amazing assortments. I am loving the new retailer SIX:02, which just recently launched online as well as brick-and-mortar stores. They have a mix of the tried and true brands (Nike & Adidas) but also offer up-and-coming luxe options like Koral and Alala, pictured below.
Trust me, once you are excited about how you look, you will feel ten times more confident and way less awkward doing all of those crazy leg lifts in your barre class.
Here are some of my favorite new workout pieces thanks to SIX:02:

I came across the Krewe store while roaming around The Quarter in New Orleans a few weeks ago. Although I wasn’t in need of new sunglasses, I was intrigued by the store and once inside, fell in love with this pair of St. Louis.
Krewe is a young brand designed out of New Orleans (the name is linked to Mardi Gras parades). They also happen to be part of a growing eyewear trend of high-quality (100% handmade!), beautifully designed glasses that are very well-priced. I am sold.
Here are some of my favorite decorating ideas for the Christmas season. I am especially loving greens mixed with paperwhite narcissus – it gives a lightness and modern feel to the traditional greens. Incorporating some delft blue looks even more amazing. And nothing feels more fresh than mixing in some citrus to wreaths, topiaries, and garlands. Oranges, lemon, and limes, oh my!
I never imagined how much time and energy feeding a baby/todler would require. My daughter’s next meal is always on my mind: What should I make? Will she eat it? Is it balanced? Do I need to go back to the grocery store? And I know a lot of other mothers feel the same was. I’d love it if T ate everything that my husband and I eat, but unfortunately, she isn’t there yet, so her meals often involve preparing something separate.
The oversized sweater and skirt look has quickly become one of my favorites of the season. The change in proportions feels so new and fresh. I especially love the versatility this look offers. It’s just as cool with sneakers as it is with boots or heels, meaning it can go casual to dressy in 0-60. And, it isn’t restricted to any one style or length of skirt. Flowy, midi, or streamlined, they all work. Comfortable, cozy, with an edge? It’s exactly what I need to get me through this winter.
This past fashion month, Kendall Jenner seriously elevated her model-off-duty style game. She looked every part the polished jet-setter girl. From her perfectly un-perfect hair all the way down to her Stella creepers, Kendall nailed each look and is wearing the trends like a true style icon. Here are some of my favorite looks:
I first saw these chandeliers at The Apartment by The Line – New York, the meticulously designed and curated concept store in Soho. I loved their organic, fluid shape and they lit the loft beautifully. The delicateness of these handblown glass orbs combined with their size strikes the perfect balance, making them an undeniable statement piece. Read More…
Scarves are back in a big way – and I don’t mean the long scarves we’ve been endlessly wrapping around our necks for the past 10 years. Bandanas or other handkerchief neck ties are the big street trend this season along with long, skinny ties. Both feel incredibly new and are so easy to add into your dressing routine, instantly adding tons of style and refreshing your look. There are a million different variations in tying your scarf, so the best part is, you really can’t get it wrong. Here are some of my favorite looks: Read More…
Little ones are always needing wardrobe updates; either the season changes or they outgrow their clothes – or both! Luckily, today, there are amazing clothing options for kids, from high end to mass, that provide just as much style and creativity as adult clothing. Here are some of my favorite special pieces for little girls right now:
- Dagmar Giselle Blouse from Sweet William 2. Tocoto Vintage Gauze Dress from Minikin 3. Treehouse Lega Legging from Minikin 4. H-Luv Hair Tie from Sweet William 5. Minna Parika Baby Bunny Shoes from Minna Papikka 6. Soft Gallery Kitty Dress from Minikin 7. Mini Dressing Fox Bag from Fawnshoppe 8. Fur Jacket from Zara 9. Embroidered Rabbit Sweatshirt from Zara 10. Yume Bunny from Acorn Shop 11. Nico Nico Georgia Shirt Dress from Fawnshoppe 12. Skinny Jeans from Zara 13. Tocoto Vintage Baby Onesie from Minikin 14. Today marks the close of Paris Fashion Week and a long, but beautiful, fashion-filled month. The runways have been exciting, but to me, the behind the scenes photos are the most inspirational. They truly capture the complete looks of the models, the clothing details, and atmosphere of each show. Here are some of my favorite images from this past weekend in Paris and from Milan.
The cooler weather this past week has been a reality check; winter is just around the corner. There is a bright spot, though: Mr. & Mrs. Italy parkas. How better to brave another New York City winter than looking chic and being cozy.
These jackets combine my favorite outerwear style, army green military style parkas, with a pop of bright colored fur, creating the perfect combination of unexpected. Read More…
I was very surprised when I learned that I was late to the Viyet party. In case you are too, Viyet is a online consignment shop where you can buy and sell high-end pre-owned furniture. As a concept, it fills a unique void in the marketplace for both the seller and consumer. Where did all of this beautiful pre-owned furniture used to go? Lucky for us, we can now reap the benefits and gain access to some pretty amazing pieces at really great prices.
I loved New York’s Spring 16 Fashion Week. This is a rarity for me, as I tend to gravitate towards Europe’s shows. But this year, there was so much amazingness coming out of NYC, it was kind of shocking. Not Read More…
While it may already be the middle of September, dress weather is just hitting its stride. With gorgeous early fall days ahead for the next few weeks, this is the best time to be wearing Vita Kin’s amazing Ukranian-inspired dresses, which we saw this past spring and summer. Read More…
I wish I had perfect skin – the kind my friend has that doesn’t even require washing (truth!). Unfortunately, I don’t. Coupled with the fact that motherhood is not exactly kind (hormones! late nights! early mornings! stress! no more retinols!) and every day I only seem to be getting older, it was high time that I get serious about a new skincare regimen. I also try to stay in the natural department, which greatly narrows the options for great skin products that truly work.
I have always had a thing for denim and this fall, I am loving how well fashion silhouettes translate into this versatile fabric. With all of the wash variations and new trends in the category, these styles can take you from days at the office, to running errands around the city and even a night out for dinner. Honestly, never has denim looked so good.
I have homes on the brain. After living in NYC apartments for the last 11 years, I am feeling the itch to live in a house; A place that completely reflects my aesthetic and there is loads of storage space! How I will fill a whole house, I am not quite sure, but more on that later… For now, Stephen Sills’ Bedford, NY, home will do nicely. And, the inside is just as gorgeous as the outside. Read More…
I love flowers (who doesn’t?). But, I have never been great at transitioning flower bunches into an actual arrangements. A few weeks ago, I took a flower class taught by Michael and Darroch from Putnum & Putnum. They did an incredible job putting on the event, which was hosted at The Kitchen Table, a beautiful loft space tucked away in Little Italy. With a little champagne, delicious finger foods, and gorgeous flowers to play with, it was an afternoon well-spent. Read More…
My daughter turned 1 year old last Sunday and I was in complete planning mode all last week. We chose to do the party in our apartment, which meant that we had to transform the place a bit to make it special. I have to say, it still sometimes takes me a minute to realize that this is actually the stage of life I am in right now – planning baby parties. I absolutely love it, it’s just amazing how quickly life changes! And, she’s already 1!!!! I couldn’t help but look back at her birth pictures all last week. So nostalgic for that little itty bitty person she once was.
During our “babymoon” in Paris last Spring, I found these incredible vases in a store and promptly fell in love. I have never seen anything like them before or since. Too intimidated to inquire about the artist or cost, due to my very poor French, I quickly snapped a photo and left – without finding out the amazing creator of these beauties.
Over the past few years, my love for all things “entertaining” has grown. As I’ve gotten older, I find myself loving tableware, linens, flower arrangements more and more (the 20 year old me is cringing). And, of course, I also love food and cooking. I was very fortunate to grow up with a mother who was – and continues to be – a wonderful hostess. The thoughtfulness and care she puts into planning parties, big and small, is a quality I so admire and hope to emulate. It couldn’t be more true that every detail counts when entertaining.
While It may take a very long time (and a hefty bank account) to acquire all of the sets of plates, silverware, and glassware, to create different and unique tablescapes, the new Dodie Thayer for Tory Burch collaboration is, currently, one of my favorite sets. I absolutely adore Dodie’s original lettuceware, which happens to be extremely difficult to find, and the reproduction by Tory Burch totally satisfies my Dodie fix.
What I love most about lettuceware is how the design instantly adds so much texture and interest to a table. Really, with these dishes, very little additional decor is needed on the table to make it look special – although the white flower arrangements are truly a stunning element. I also love the freshness that green brings to a table and what could be fresher than eating off of green leaves?

I love this outfit. It feels easy, breezy – perfect for late summer or early fall. And, Ms. Sewell managed to make her Être-Cécil graphic tee look even cooler, with major help from the impeccable Rachel Comey Legion Pant, which I am obsessed with (both the denim and white version). The Chloe wedges are perfect with the cropped pant and the gorgeous Isa Arfen cape coat perfectly pulls the whole look together, making the blues pop. Perfect.´

I finally got to “the class” after weeks of trying to fit it into my (and my husband’s… and baby’s…) schedule. I had seen articles in all of the fashion mags about this “class”, as it is simply known, and then began to follow Taryn Toomey, the class creator, on Instagram. As a workout devotee, I am always interested in the latest and greatest fitness trends and with Naomi Watt’s and Taryn’s figures as billboards for the class, I knew I had to try this workout for myself.
I love color and I have always loved makeup and it’s ability to transform and finish a look. While currently, I have about enough time and energy for the same old blush and mascara each day (its the bare minimum I can get away with), I am pretty sure that I need the entire Christopher Kane for Nars collection. It is the best seasonal color palette I have seen in a very long time – it screams summer and happiness! And, no one does color pigments like Nars – he just gets them so right. Lastly, the packaging alone is a reason to buy. It is so good.
Resort 16 totally snuck up on me. In fact, I didn’t realized it was time for presentations until I found my Instagram feed blowing up with looks from various designer presentations. It was my lucky day (or weeks, the way these things last). I love resort collections! They are always one of the most wearable collections of the year and a precursor of what’s to come for the main season.
While Delphine Manivet is not a new designer, she has managed to fly under the radar a bit, and stay relatively unknown. But, everytime I come across her designs: wedding, evening or couture, I remember just how good she is.
Specifically, I am obsessed with Ms. Manivet’s wedding dresses. Delphine designs for both a modern bride as well as one with a more romantic style. This is a woman who knows who she is: a late 20’s to mid 30’s Parisian professional, who prefers (or is too cool to care) her hair to be slightly undone, and always looks timelessly chic.
When I came across Christopher Spitzmiller’s beautiful home accessories a few months ago, it was love at first sight. I am a sucker for any delft blue and white combo and the swirled glaze lamps he designs are stunning. What makes Mr. Spitzmiller’s lamps so perfect is that their design is timeless: they are modern and polished, yet still so cool. Each lamp is one-of-a-kind and the wooden base is gilt in 23k yellow gold or 9k white gold. With so many styles and gorgeous colors to choose from, I could seriously decorate every room of my apartment with these beauties. And, my new obsession is his tableware. I’d never be so happy to finish my dinner plate each night.
It isn’t difficult to find cute little girls clothing, but finding PRACTICAL cute clothes is another story. Luckily, I came across Rylee + Cru, a wonderful knit-based collection for girls and boys. This line satisfies so many criteria for dressing little kids. The coolest prints around? Most definitely. Beautiful graphics? Yep. Easy and modern silhouettes? Check. Most important: comfy and durable fabrics? Totally. And, it’s made in the U.S.A.
When I saw the Sonia Rykiel Summer ’15 fashion show, I almost fell out of my chair, completely in love with the collction. I hadn’t paid much attention to the brand for years, but under the design direction of Julie de Libran, the Rykiel girl is back and everything about her is so right. The best part is that the whole line is real-life wearable – not just editorially perfect; It has the cool un-done Parisian girl down pat. I love the line’s use of modern silhouettes that are both classic and edgey (not impossible to achieve?), bit of sex appeal, of course “Rykiel” STRIPES, and amazing styling (including the models’ hair and makeup) to round it out. The perfect blend, no? And, definitely the best overalls of the season. If I could, I’d have it all.
