An Aquazzura Summer

Aquazzura’s summer shoe collection makes up the majority of the sandals on my summer favorites list.  Each style has personality for days and the bright colors bring so much energy to every outfit.  And, as a gift to all of our feet, their 2″ heels are just as cool as those 4″.  What’s better than a great looking shoe that feels good too? Solid & Striped X Poppy Delevingne

My love affair with stripes continues with the new collaborative launch of Solid & Striped X Poppy Delevingne.  Every style in the collection has a timeless cut (with the slightest bit of sex appeal) and is in a perfect palette of navy, cream, and petal pink.   I’m especially loving the one pieces in the line and this gingham style will be making an appearance in my daughter’s swim class very soon.

And if these pictures of Poppy don’t inspire you to get into the swimsuit game, maybe this picture of Gigi in Solid and Striped will… Read More…

La Ligne

Stripes.  Everyone loves a good stripe.   After years in the industry, I know that designing stripes isn’t hard, but designing great ones is.  Thankfully, two ex-Vogue editors, Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster, and former Rag & Bone alumna, Molly Howard, had the brilliant idea to make stripes the focus of their new business with the launch of La Ligne.   Read More…

Palm Beach Inspiration

I’m swooning over this gorgeous Palm Beach villa from Veranda Magazine.  Blue and white is one of my favorite interior color combinations.   The way it is used here feels so fresh, yet still offers tons of interest through print and pattern and dimension with the various shades of blue.  The pops of lime green and leaf green are the perfect accents to complete the color scheme, especially for the balmy Florida climate. Mom Uniform: Part 2

In the last post, I focused on the more casual aspects of uniform dressing.  Here are some additional looks to add to your arsenal.  These will diversify your options and the end-uses for each outfit, as well as amp up the style quotient.

Sometimes, the addition of a blazer and a heel are all you need for a little fashion boost or to simply take you from day to night.  Don’t forget that you may need to update your denim silhouettes.  The fit is all about looser, cropped styles.  Mom jeans!

The Mom Uniform: Part 1

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

After turning 30, getting married, getting pregnant, and becoming a mom, a big challenge for me has been figuring out what I am going to wear – or not wear.  It may sound silly or trite, but having worked in the apparel industry for over ten years and being confident in every outfit I wore, I suddenly felt like most of my closet no longer represented who I was.   It was a bit of an identity crisis.  Who was I?  I needed a fashion rebirth.

Toddler & Baby Meals, Part 2

https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/a-beautiful-hunt-14686965

While I am a carbivore, my daughter is a total carnivore.  Luckily, there are some meals that we can agree upon.

My goal is always to get T to eat what we are eating.  I’d rather make one great meal than two time-pressed dinners.  And I love recipes that make multiple meals, are easy to portion and are portable.  These meatballs fit all of those prerequisites. Read More…

Everlane Mini

Before I had my daughter, I spent 10 years in apparel merchandising.  And it’s true: even a little retail gets into your blood.  I still love staying up-to-date on what is happening in the retail world and seeing how it is moving forward and evolving.  Or, not…  While the big brands continue to do business as usual, there are a handful of new, small, innovative brands making some noise in the business.  One of my favorites is Everlane.   Read More…

Christmas Chic

Here are some of my favorite decorating ideas for the Christmas season.  I am especially loving greens mixed with paperwhite narcissus – it gives a lightness and modern feel to the traditional greens.  Incorporating some delft blue looks even more amazing. And nothing feels more fresh than mixing in some citrus to wreaths, topiaries, and garlands.  Oranges, lemon, and limes, oh my!

Baby & Toddler Meals

I never imagined how much time and energy feeding a baby/todler would require.  My daughter’s next meal is always on my mind: What should I make?  Will she eat it?  Is it balanced?  Do I need to go back to the grocery store?  And I know a lot of other mothers feel the same was.  I’d love it if T ate everything that my husband and I eat, but unfortunately, she isn’t there yet, so her meals often involve preparing something separate.

The Look: Oversized Sweater and Skirt

The oversized sweater and skirt look has quickly become one of my favorites of the season.  The change in proportions feels so new and fresh.  I especially love the versatility this look offers.  It’s just as cool with sneakers as it is with boots or heels, meaning it can go casual to dressy in 0-60.  And, it isn’t restricted to any one style or length of skirt. Flowy, midi, or streamlined, they all work.  Comfortable, cozy, with an edge?  It’s exactly what I need to get me through this winter.

Tie One On

Scarves are back in a big way – and I don’t mean the long scarves we’ve been endlessly wrapping around our necks for the past 10 years.  Bandanas or other handkerchief neck ties are the big street trend this season along with long, skinny ties.  Both feel incredibly new and are so easy to add into your dressing routine, instantly adding tons of style and refreshing your look.  There are a million different variations in tying your scarf, so the best part is, you really can’t get it wrong.  Here are some of my favorite looks:  Read More…

Best of Paris & Milan

Today marks the close of Paris Fashion Week and a long, but beautiful, fashion-filled month.  The runways have been exciting, but to me, the behind the scenes photos are the most inspirational.  They truly capture the complete looks of the models, the clothing details, and atmosphere of each show.  Here are some of my favorite images from this past weekend in Paris and from Milan.

Mr. & Mrs. Italy

The cooler weather this past week has been a reality check; winter is just around the corner.  There is a bright spot, though: Mr. & Mrs. Italy parkas.  How better to brave another New York City winter than looking chic and being cozy.
These jackets combine my favorite outerwear style, army green military style parkas, with a pop of bright colored fur, creating the perfect combination of unexpected.   Read More…

Home Design Obsession: Viyet

I was very surprised when I learned that I was late to the Viyet party.  In case you are too, Viyet is a online consignment shop where you can buy and sell high-end pre-owned furniture.  As a concept, it fills a unique void in the marketplace for both the seller and consumer.  Where did all of this beautiful pre-owned furniture used to go?   Lucky for us, we can now reap the benefits and gain access to some pretty amazing pieces at really great prices.

Skin Deep

I wish I had perfect skin – the kind my friend has that doesn’t even require washing (truth!).  Unfortunately, I don’t.  Coupled with the fact that motherhood is not exactly kind (hormones! late nights! early mornings! stress! no more retinols!) and every day I only seem to be getting older, it was high time that I get serious about a new skincare regimen.  I also try to stay in the natural department, which greatly narrows the options for great skin products that truly work.

Denim Days

I have always had a thing for denim and this fall, I am loving how well fashion silhouettes translate into this versatile fabric.  With all of the wash variations and new trends in the category, these styles can take you from days at the office, to running errands around the city and even a night out for dinner.  Honestly, never has denim looked so good.

House Dreaming…

I have homes on the brain.  After living in NYC apartments for the last 11 years, I am feeling the itch to live in a house; A place that completely reflects my aesthetic and there is loads of storage space!  How I will fill a whole house, I am not quite sure, but more on that later… For now, Stephen Sills’ Bedford, NY, home will do nicely.  And, the inside is just as gorgeous as the outside. Flower School

I love flowers (who doesn’t?).  But, I have never been great at transitioning flower bunches into an actual arrangements.  A few weeks ago, I took a flower class taught by Michael and Darroch from Putnum & Putnum.  They did an incredible job putting on the event, which was hosted at The Kitchen Table, a beautiful loft space tucked away in Little Italy.  With a little champagne, delicious finger foods, and gorgeous flowers to play with, it was an afternoon well-spent. First Birthday…Part 1

My daughter turned 1 year old last Sunday and I was in complete planning mode all last week.  We chose to do the party in our apartment, which meant that we had to transform the place a bit to make it special.  I have to say, it still sometimes takes me a minute to realize that this is actually the stage of life I am in right now – planning baby parties.  I absolutely love it, it’s just amazing how quickly life changes!   And, she’s already 1!!!!  I couldn’t help but look back at her birth pictures all last week.  So nostalgic for that little itty bitty person she once was.

Dodie Thayer for Tory Burch

Over the past few years, my love for all things “entertaining” has grown.  As I’ve gotten older, I find myself loving tableware, linens, flower arrangements more and more (the 20 year old me is cringing).  And, of course, I also love food and cooking.  I was very fortunate to grow up with a mother who was – and continues to be – a wonderful hostess.  The thoughtfulness and care she puts into planning parties, big and small, is a quality I so admire and hope to emulate.  It couldn’t be more true that every detail counts when entertaining. The Look…

I love this outfit.  It feels easy, breezy – perfect for late summer or early fall.  And, Ms. Sewell managed to make her Être-Cécil graphic tee look even cooler, with major help from the impeccable Rachel Comey Legion Pant, which I am obsessed with (both the denim and white version).   The Chloe wedges are perfect with the cropped pant and the gorgeous Isa Arfen cape coat perfectly pulls the whole look together, making the blues pop.  Perfect.´

the class

I finally got to “the class” after weeks of trying to fit it into my (and my husband’s… and baby’s…) schedule.  I had seen articles in all of the fashion mags about this “class”, as it is simply known, and then began to follow Taryn Toomey, the class creator, on Instagram.  As a workout devotee, I am always interested in the latest and greatest fitness trends and with Naomi Watt’s and Taryn’s figures as billboards for the class, I knew I had to try this workout for myself.

Christopher Kane for Nars

I love color and I have always loved makeup and it’s ability to transform and finish a look.  While currently, I have about enough time and energy for the same old blush and mascara each day (its the bare minimum I can get away with), I am pretty sure that I need the entire Christopher Kane for Nars collection.  It is the best seasonal color palette I have seen in a very long time – it screams summer and happiness!  And, no one does color pigments like Nars – he just gets them so right.  Lastly, the packaging alone is a reason to buy.  It is so good.

Rosie Resort

Resort 16 totally snuck up on me.  In fact, I didn’t realized it was time for presentations until I found my Instagram feed blowing up with looks from various designer presentations.  It was my lucky day (or weeks, the way these things last). I love resort collections!  They are always one of the most wearable collections of the year and a precursor of what’s to come for the main season.

Delphine Manivet

While Delphine Manivet is not a new designer, she has managed to fly under the radar a bit, and stay relatively unknown. But, everytime I come across her designs: wedding, evening or couture, I remember just how good she is.

Specifically, I am obsessed with Ms. Manivet’s wedding dresses.  Delphine designs for both a modern bride as well as one with a more romantic style.  This is a woman who knows who she is: a late 20’s to mid 30’s Parisian professional, who prefers (or is too cool to care) her hair to be slightly undone, and always looks timelessly chic.

Rylee + Cru

It isn’t difficult to find cute little girls clothing, but finding PRACTICAL cute clothes is another story. Luckily, I came across Rylee + Cru, a wonderful knit-based collection for girls and boys. This line satisfies so many criteria for dressing little kids. The coolest prints around? Most definitely. Beautiful graphics? Yep. Easy and modern silhouettes? Check. Most important: comfy and durable fabrics? Totally. And, it’s made in the U.S.A.
