We are in baby mode at our house.  At 37, almost 38 weeks pregnant, my nesting instincts are in full gear.  And while I don’t have the baby’s nursery complete, as we are moving at the end of February (why not add one more thing to our plate?),
I am collecting ideas for the room and getting inspired.  Here are some of my favorite nursery images:

One of the things that I am loving in many of these rooms is the wallpaper or wall decals.  It really set the stage for a room’s personality. The great thing is that now, you don’t necessarily have to commit to wallpaper, as there are great decal options (perfect for renting!).  Here are my favorite removable wallpaper and decal sites: Urban Walls, Chasing Paper, Ferm Living, and Groovy Magnets .

Elle Decor recently did a feature on Martin von Haselberg’s Millbrook, New York pool house.  At first glance, it appeared to be a beautiful bucolic scene, with the sweet white chapel next to a serene pool and expansive green lawn.  But looking through the rest of the images, I was blown away by what was actually on the inside.

Von Haselberg collaborated with Los Angeles creative consultant and color specialist Nancy Kintisch to create a space that “looked one way on the outside but was totally, radically not that on the inside.”  The space mixes pastels and sweetened brights, that are put in check by the soaring 35 foot tall white ceilings and walls.  It’s the use of color that is absolutely stunning – the hues chosen, their unexpected placement and how they work together so beautifully.  Pastels have never felt more modern.  However, the space is also incredibly practical.  It offers everything you’ve ever wanted in a pool-side sanctuary, especially the raised sitting area.  It’s the perfect way to spend summer by the pool.

There is nothing like keeping fresh floral arrangements in the house to add color, dimension, and help bring a little of the outdoors inside.  But given the chance, I’d forsake all the fresh flowers to add one of Vladmir Kanevsky’s handmade porcelain floral sculptures to my home.  The
Ukraine native, now living in New Jersey, creates one-of-a-kind potted botanical arrangements, commissioned by a very stylish in-the-know global customer base.  Kanevsky’s attention to detail and his precision in transforming botanicals into lasting decorative objects is master artistry at its finest.

Here is a look inside famed couturier Hubert De Givenchy’s beautiful country estate, Le Jonchet Manor.  This stunning 17th century Renaissance castle in the Touraine boasts exquisite parterres, a moat, and of course, as much interior style as Monsieur Givenchy brought to his renowned la Maison Givenchy.

I’m swooning over this gorgeous Palm Beach villa from Veranda Magazine.  Blue and white is one of my favorite interior color combinations.   The way it is used here feels so fresh, yet still offers tons of interest through print and pattern and dimension with the various shades of blue.  The pops of lime green and leaf green are the perfect accents to complete the color scheme, especially for the balmy Florida climate.

At the very least, it’s time to buy more blue and white vases.  It is incredible how much they add to each room.

I first saw these chandeliers at The Apartment by The Line – New York,  the meticulously designed and curated concept store in Soho.  I loved their organic, fluid shape and they lit the loft beautifully.  The delicateness of these handblown glass orbs combined with their size strikes the perfect balance, making them an undeniable statement piece.

The chandeliers are Czech glassmaker Lasvit’s Neverending Glory collection, designed by Jan Plechác and Henry Wielgus.  To better describe the iconic opera house chandelier inspiration behind their designs, Jan Plechác explained: “We wanted to create just a ghost of the original chandeliers, or just the soul, the shadow, the shine of the original ones. If you imagine the grand, original chandeliers in these opera houses, they’re glorious, and the ‘neverending’ part relates to the profiles and the idea of infinite rotation—a neverending glory.”

The problem is, how do you choose just one?

I was very surprised when I learned that I was late to the Viyet party.  In case you are too, Viyet is a online consignment shop where you can buy and sell high-end pre-owned furniture.  As a concept, it fills a unique void in the marketplace for both the seller and consumer.  Where did all of this beautiful pre-owned furniture used to go?   Lucky for us, we can now reap the benefits and gain access to some pretty amazing pieces at really great prices.

I have homes on the brain.  After living in NYC apartments for the last 11 years, I am feeling the itch to live in a house; A place that completely reflects my aesthetic and there is loads of storage space!  How I will fill a whole house, I am not quite sure, but more on that later… For now, Stephen Sills’ Bedford, NY, home will do nicely.  And, the inside is just as gorgeous as the outside.

During our “babymoon” in Paris last Spring, I found these incredible vases in a store and promptly fell in love.  I have never seen anything like them before or since.  Too intimidated to inquire about the artist or cost, due to my very poor French, I quickly snapped a photo and left – without finding out the amazing creator of these beauties.

Thanks to some detective work and luck, I somehow recently came across Hugh Findletar, or as he is known on Instagram, Mr. Flower Headz, and realized he was behind those incredible vases I had seen.  It turns out that Mr. Flower Headz is actually a photographer and occasional florist, who collaborated with the Zanetti glassworks of Murano to create these human-inspired head vases.  His pieces are so stunning in-person and the way the flowers become the hair of the vase-person is beyond beautiful and allows for so much creativity and personality.  One of these vases would make an incredible statement piece in any home and be the perfect entry-way greeter.

When I came across Christopher Spitzmiller’s beautiful home accessories a few months ago, it was love at first sight.  I am a sucker for any delft blue and white combo and the swirled glaze lamps he designs are stunning. What makes Mr. Spitzmiller’s lamps so perfect is that their design is timeless: they are modern and polished, yet still so cool. Each lamp is one-of-a-kind and the wooden base is gilt in 23k yellow gold or 9k white gold. With so many styles and gorgeous colors to choose from, I could seriously decorate every room of my apartment with these beauties. And, my new obsession is his tableware. I’d never be so happy to finish my dinner plate each night.
