An Aquazzura Summer

Aquazzura’s summer shoe collection makes up the majority of the sandals on my summer favorites list.  Each style has personality for days and the bright colors bring so much energy to every outfit.  And, as a gift to all of our feet, their 2″ heels are just as cool as those 4″.  What’s better than a great looking shoe that feels good too? Solid & Striped X Poppy Delevingne

My love affair with stripes continues with the new collaborative launch of Solid & Striped X Poppy Delevingne.  Every style in the collection has a timeless cut (with the slightest bit of sex appeal) and is in a perfect palette of navy, cream, and petal pink.   I’m especially loving the one pieces in the line and this gingham style will be making an appearance in my daughter’s swim class very soon.

And if these pictures of Poppy don’t inspire you to get into the swimsuit game, maybe this picture of Gigi in Solid and Striped will… Read More…

La Ligne

Stripes.  Everyone loves a good stripe.   After years in the industry, I know that designing stripes isn’t hard, but designing great ones is.  Thankfully, two ex-Vogue editors, Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster, and former Rag & Bone alumna, Molly Howard, had the brilliant idea to make stripes the focus of their new business with the launch of La Ligne.   Read More…

Mom Uniform: Part 2

In the last post, I focused on the more casual aspects of uniform dressing.  Here are some additional looks to add to your arsenal.  These will diversify your options and the end-uses for each outfit, as well as amp up the style quotient.

Sometimes, the addition of a blazer and a heel are all you need for a little fashion boost or to simply take you from day to night.  Don’t forget that you may need to update your denim silhouettes.  The fit is all about looser, cropped styles.  Mom jeans!

The Mom Uniform: Part 1

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

After turning 30, getting married, getting pregnant, and becoming a mom, a big challenge for me has been figuring out what I am going to wear – or not wear.  It may sound silly or trite, but having worked in the apparel industry for over ten years and being confident in every outfit I wore, I suddenly felt like most of my closet no longer represented who I was.   It was a bit of an identity crisis.  Who was I?  I needed a fashion rebirth.

Everlane Mini

Before I had my daughter, I spent 10 years in apparel merchandising.  And it’s true: even a little retail gets into your blood.  I still love staying up-to-date on what is happening in the retail world and seeing how it is moving forward and evolving.  Or, not…  While the big brands continue to do business as usual, there are a handful of new, small, innovative brands making some noise in the business.  One of my favorites is Everlane.   Read More…

The Look: Oversized Sweater and Skirt

The oversized sweater and skirt look has quickly become one of my favorites of the season.  The change in proportions feels so new and fresh.  I especially love the versatility this look offers.  It’s just as cool with sneakers as it is with boots or heels, meaning it can go casual to dressy in 0-60.  And, it isn’t restricted to any one style or length of skirt. Flowy, midi, or streamlined, they all work.  Comfortable, cozy, with an edge?  It’s exactly what I need to get me through this winter.

Tie One On

Scarves are back in a big way – and I don’t mean the long scarves we’ve been endlessly wrapping around our necks for the past 10 years.  Bandanas or other handkerchief neck ties are the big street trend this season along with long, skinny ties.  Both feel incredibly new and are so easy to add into your dressing routine, instantly adding tons of style and refreshing your look.  There are a million different variations in tying your scarf, so the best part is, you really can’t get it wrong.  Here are some of my favorite looks:  Read More…

Best of Paris & Milan

Today marks the close of Paris Fashion Week and a long, but beautiful, fashion-filled month.  The runways have been exciting, but to me, the behind the scenes photos are the most inspirational.  They truly capture the complete looks of the models, the clothing details, and atmosphere of each show.  Here are some of my favorite images from this past weekend in Paris and from Milan.

Mr. & Mrs. Italy

The cooler weather this past week has been a reality check; winter is just around the corner.  There is a bright spot, though: Mr. & Mrs. Italy parkas.  How better to brave another New York City winter than looking chic and being cozy.
These jackets combine my favorite outerwear style, army green military style parkas, with a pop of bright colored fur, creating the perfect combination of unexpected.   Read More…

Denim Days

I have always had a thing for denim and this fall, I am loving how well fashion silhouettes translate into this versatile fabric.  With all of the wash variations and new trends in the category, these styles can take you from days at the office, to running errands around the city and even a night out for dinner.  Honestly, never has denim looked so good.

The Look…

I love this outfit.  It feels easy, breezy – perfect for late summer or early fall.  And, Ms. Sewell managed to make her Être-Cécil graphic tee look even cooler, with major help from the impeccable Rachel Comey Legion Pant, which I am obsessed with (both the denim and white version).   The Chloe wedges are perfect with the cropped pant and the gorgeous Isa Arfen cape coat perfectly pulls the whole look together, making the blues pop.  Perfect.´

Rosie Resort

Resort 16 totally snuck up on me.  In fact, I didn’t realized it was time for presentations until I found my Instagram feed blowing up with looks from various designer presentations.  It was my lucky day (or weeks, the way these things last). I love resort collections!  They are always one of the most wearable collections of the year and a precursor of what’s to come for the main season.

Delphine Manivet

While Delphine Manivet is not a new designer, she has managed to fly under the radar a bit, and stay relatively unknown. But, everytime I come across her designs: wedding, evening or couture, I remember just how good she is.

Specifically, I am obsessed with Ms. Manivet’s wedding dresses.  Delphine designs for both a modern bride as well as one with a more romantic style.  This is a woman who knows who she is: a late 20’s to mid 30’s Parisian professional, who prefers (or is too cool to care) her hair to be slightly undone, and always looks timelessly chic.
